Projects 2020

The Banbury BID Business Plan set out a series of proposed projects based on 5 core themes.

Here’s some of those from 2020.

MORE VIBRANT

“Increase footfall and enhance the appearance of our town centre”

Banbury Clean

We have teamed up with Kärcher Center Banbury, to spruce up our town centre. The Banbury Clean project aims to make visitors feel safe and confident to return to Banbury following the recent lockdown. An experienced Kärcher team is using their hot water pressure washer to clean the central locations of Banbury town centre.

The project began in Summer 2020 with the cleanup of the Market Square but will move onto other key areas.

BETTER FOR BUSINESS

“Providing a range of support projects for contributing BID members”

Reopening Banbury

The coronavirus situation brought about new legislation and safety guidance for businesses to adhere to. We wanted to make reopening as hassle-free as possible by putting together reopening starter kits.

Containing a variety of items such as social distancing floor stickers, posters and hand sanitiser, these kits were given away for free to BID members.

“Promoting Banbury and building customer loyalty through new channels”

ShopAppy Banbury

To support our town centre businesses during lockdown we partnered with the multi-award-winning digital platform ShopAppy.com. The aim was to help people at home to shop local online and support our Banbury businesses.

We’re covering the cost of the platform for one year for our BID members and are working with a local taxi firm to provide a delivery solution.

“Promotion of the town to a regional and national audience”

Banbury Inspires

We are championing those businesses in our town centre who refuse to be beaten. Through a series of personal stories, we are shouting about those who are staying positive, evolving and supporting the wider community.

From online stores, virtual classes and town centre audio trails to new ways of doing things, find out how Banbury is staying in business.

BETTER FOR VISITORS

‘Be In Banbury’ – new interactive audio trail launches on the town app LoyalFree.

Banbury BID, working in partnership with Banbury Museum and the award winning high street app LoyalFree, has launched a brand new interactive audio trail to the area. The trail explores the town’s extensive past in a new and exciting way!

Combining audio clips into town trails is the first of it’s kind for the LoyalFree app, with Banbury BID leading the way on what is expected to be a popular feature in the future, bringing Banbury Museum’s wonderful reminiscence work to life.

The audio trail ‘Exploring Banbury Town’ is now live on the LoyalFree app and locals and visitors can check out 13 locations across the town including in St Mary’s Church Yard and on Parsons Street, to uncover a hidden and historic story!

Be Bright in Banbury this winter

Ending the year on a lighter note, our ‘Be Bright In Banbury this Winter’ campaign is now in full swing, brightening up the Cornhill entrance to Castle Quay throughout December and into New Year, following our successful remembrance display at the town hall last month.

The campaign has been very well received by the general public, and we hope it will further encourage people into town during this crucial trading time. Featuring on BBC South Today as well as local press, local radio and backed by a coordinated social media campaign, the town has enjoyed excellent coverage of the displays. Be sure to share our social posts to help to promote the campaign far and wide and to really make Banbury a vibrant winter destination!
